SUMMARY:Waterloo Makes Music: Frida and the Mann & Joshua Jesty and the Intimacy Coordinators
DESCRIPTION:Waterloo Makes Music is a free concert series\, presented by Cleveland Rocks: Past\, Present\, Future\, showcasing acts from the Cleveland music scene at various locations in the Waterloo Arts & Entertainment District.\n\n\nFri\, October 4th\n7pm • Treelawn Social Club (15335 Waterloo Rd\, Cleveland)\nFree Event!\n\n\nFrida and the MannFrom Frida and the Mann’s Inception\, the goal was simple. Make music that people can feel. Be unapologetic. Be raw. Be true. This band from cleveland Ohio was formed in 2023\, in someone else’s basement\, in a small space\, with big dreams. Now winners of the 2024 Cleveland Music Awards Best New Artist they are well on their way! Their alternative rock sound hits hard because it’s straight from the soul. Catch them tearing up Cleveland’s legendary spots like Grog Shop and Beachland\, or just sit back and watch as they explode onto the scene.\n\nJoshua Jesty and the Intimacy CoordinatorsLook to the person to your left\, now look to the person to your right\, now look inside yourself. Look deeper\, deeper still into the darkness and the loss and the shame and the joy and the awkwardness and the blemishes of your soul and find the hope that keeps you spinning in this ongoing divine comedy. Joshua has probably written a song about one of those things you looked at. Maybe the internal struggle/soul stuff\, but if the person to your left was Candace\, it was probably about her.Joshua and the intimacy coordinators have been obliterating everyone sonically in their path from the hills of the West side of Cleveland to the hills of the East side of Cleveland.Joshua’s music has won praise in NME\, Pitchfork\, made several appearances in best of lists in rolling stone and earned him a noble peace prize as well as made a few best of lists in the scene magazine and he knows how to dance to salsa music. At least two of those things are true. If you like your songs a little sarcastic and sometimes heartbreaking with college rock energy that’s catchy and hook laden with that loud quiet loud dynamic and NO costume changes at all\, you’re home friend.\n\nFree Event!\n\nThis event is made possible with support from Cuyahoga Arts and Culture.

Stay for The 2×4 Songwriter Showcase immediately after the pedal experience workshop. \n2×4 Songwriter Showcase \nLingua (Moko Bovo) – ReverbNation \nYes Lisa (Life Magnetic) – Facebook | Instagram | YouTube \nDavid Novak (SkinTone Guitar Picks) – Facebook \nAlison and JC (AJ & The Woods) – Website | Facebook | Instagram \n*** This is a free event but space is limited. Reserve your ticket below to lock in a seat. ***\nhttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/579365546947 \nBios: \n\nLingua:\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLingua is Dan Bode vocals and harmonica and Rick Kodramaz on bass. We have performed since 1997 in bars\,  coffee shops\, art galleries\, bookstores\, the Cleveland Museum of Art\, and Cinemateque playing spoken word\, songs\, and soundtracks to silent films.  The “soundscapes” we create are highly improvised.  Reaching for new sounds has brought us to a deeper understanding of pedals\, effects\, and synthesizers\, and how they can enhance tension and emotional impact in performance.\n\n\n\nDavid Novak:\nNo stranger to writing music and performing live; David Novak returns to the stage as “DA.” The name DA means “this” in ancient hebrew. I think it describes in simplest terms my music and the experience I’m offering audiences. DA is about storytelling\, being in the moment\, and the way music brings people together. That experience should be somewhat indescribable. The listener is encouraged to consider what “this” means to them. Stylistically\, my original music touches on sensitive folk\, dissonant art rock\, and squalling noise rock. David’s work in music has had a meaningful impact in North East Ohio\, and he shares special connections with many of our areas most accomplished musicians. He has been a music teacher\, a club owner\, he has produced acts\, toured the U.S.\, showcased at The Viper Room in Hollywood California\, and worked with producer Fran Ashcroft (Damon Albarn of Blur/Gorillaz). “I love making music because even with basic elemental forms\, people can still feel music and be drawn to it. DA is an intention\, and is just as much about the live experience as it is the music.”\n\nAJ & The Woods:\nFounded on the sweet nostalgia of delta blues\, AJ & The Woods elevates roots rock to a new height. Their sultry sound features striking female vocals and intricate guitar melodies which organically blends passionate folk\, rock\, and blues music. Home grown in Ohio and established in 2015\, AJ & The Woods brings you one of the most unique and articulate sounds to date.
