SUMMARY:Waterloo Makes Music: Kid Tigrrr and Benjamin Liar
DESCRIPTION:Waterloo Makes Music is a free concert series\, presented by Cleveland Rocks: Past\, Present\, Future\, showcasing acts from the Cleveland music scene at various locations in the Waterloo Arts & Entertainment District. \nFri\, December 6\, 2024 • 7-9pm\nCleveland Rocks Shop (15801 Waterloo Rd\, Cleveland) \nKid Tigrrr\nKid Tigrrr’s debut album\, Stoned + Animald\, is an ethereal blend of art-rock\, melancholy indie\, and dream-pop\, tackling subjects such as abuse\, addiction\, and mental health. Being largely home recorded and self-produced with a spirit of experimentation\, the artist paints lush atmospheres around her most confessional work to date\, pushing singer-songwriter Jenna Fournier’s horizons both sonically and conceptually. It’s part bedroom pop\, part ambient\, and part an embracement of her early folk roots\, while shoegaze influences shimmer with a dose of 90’s nostalgia.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/kid.tigrrr.music \nBenjamin Liar\nBenjamin Liar has been a writer\, musician\, filmmaker\, game developer\, bartender\, cartographer\, estimator\, semi-professional drinker\, ditch-digger\, file organizer\, rockabilly bassist\, bad actor\, screenwriter\, house painter\, passionate fort-builder\, reformed preacher\, drywall hanger\, decent friend and terrible lover. He has his first book coming out this summer\, and it’s called The Failures. His name is clearly a pseudonym\, but you still shouldn’t trust anything he says.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/benjaminliar \nFree Event! SUMMARY:Waterloo Makes Music: Luca Mundaca\, Alexis Antes\, Anita Keys
DESCRIPTION:Waterloo Makes Music is a free concert series on Waterloo as a gift to all the music lovers in the community\, and a celebration of Cleveland’s amazing musical legacy. \nLuca Mundaca\nWith over 130\,000 monthly listeners and millions of song plays on\nSpotify\, Luca Mundaca is a musical artist in her prime. A formidable composer and arranger\, Luca’s albums “Day by Day” and “Primeiro” feature all original compositions. A gifted artist with a stunning voice of great intimacy and emotion\, Luca’s music is a glorious blend of her native Brazil with a touch of downtown New York. She mines deep melodic roots in her country’s heritage\, creating musical gems that she polishes with the lightest of touches. Influenced by jazz and bossa nova\, themes in her songs often revolve around nature and our relationship with it.\nTo her credit\, Luca has won an Independent Music Award in the World Fusion category as well as placing third in the International\nSongwriting Competition\, World Music category.\nIn addition to her own albums\, Luca’s work has been featured on two compilations distributed by Putumayo World Music: “Brazilian Lounge” and “Women of the World: Acoustic”. Her music has been featured in movies including “End of Watch”\, “The Visitor”\, “Kissing Paris”\, and television shows such as HBO series “Californication”\, ABC show “Mistresses”\, and Brazilian telenovela “TiTiTi”.\nhttps://www.lucamundaca.com\nhttps://www.youtube.com/mundacamusic\nhttps://www.instagram.com/Lucamundaca\n—\nAlexis Antes\nSinger/songwriter Alexis Antes delivers a smooth\, soulful\,\nacoustic-edged blend of pop/rock originals splashed with current and classic cover tunes. Her new recording titled “13” was released to a sold-out audience at Music Box Supper Club. The album was recorded with platinum record producer/engineer Jim Wirt (Fiona Apple\, Brian Setzer\, Incubus\, Hoobastank) and Superior Sound Recording Studios in Cleveland. Alexis was a founding member of local ‘90s band Odd Girl Out.\nSelect career highlights:\n* Sold Out CD release show at Music Box Supper Club in Cleveland\, OH\n* Opening the show for many notable artists throughout her career\, including: Sarah McLachlan\, Sheryl Crow\, James Taylor\, Melissa Etheridge\, Jewel\, America\, and Fleetwood Mac\n“…her nuanced vocals on 13\, burnished and honey-toned. She’s\nalways been one of the area’s outstanding singers\, and maturity has just added to the impact of her vocals. The new songs play to her strengths. In fact\, the songs\, with the full but not overwhelming arrangements and their graceful melodies\, pulse with focused energy. Standouts like ‘Two Hearts’ and ‘Heaven Sent’ are both delicate and propulsive.” — Anastasia Pantsios\, Cool Cleveland\n“Singing is a gift. Songwriting is a gift. Playing is a gift. It’s not\nuncommon to find an artist who does one of the three well; it IS\nuncommon to find one who does all three well. Add Cleveland’s own Alexis Antes to the final list…” — Chuck Yarborough\, The Plain Dealer\n[album opener on 13\, “Fight for a Better Day”] “It’s a righteous\ntune cut from the same musical cloth as songs by Melissa Etheridge and\nAni DiFranco.” — Jeff Niesel\, Cleveland Scene\nListen:\nhttp://alexisantes.bandcamp.com/album/13\nhttp://www.alexisantes.com/\nhttps://www.facebook.com/AlexisAntesMusic\n—\nAnita Keys\nAnita Herczog started learning to play music on the living room piano around age 4\, from her father\, Ted Herczog\, who played marimba in The Versatiles\, a popular 3-piece Jazz Combo for 30+ years\, starting in the 1950s! Her formal piano lessons began in the second grade and continued through high school\, where her songwriting began. After a few years devoted to raising a family\, Anita joined the local “weekend warriors”\, and for two decades played keys and sang harmonies in several cover bands (Tymz Up\, Shooter\, Off the Record\, The Band Intense) before deciding to concentrate on her Originals. Anita built herself a band of a rotating collection of accomplished Musicians and has performed for more than a decade as Anita Keys and Anita Keys & friends. Anita released 20/20- her fifth full-length CD of original tunes- in December 2022\, and performs her Jazzy Pop Music all around the Cleveland area. Anita Keys is also heard on local college radio stations and can be found at www.anitakeys.com and online on all digital music platforms!\nhttps://www.facebook.com/msanitakeys\nhttps://www.youtu.be/channel/anitakeysmusic\nhttps://www.anitakeys.com \nThis program is supported by Cuyahoga Arts and Culture
