SUMMARY:Waterloo Makes Music w/Nancy Redd-Shelton and the 9th Street Tuna Band
DESCRIPTION:Cleveland Rocks: Past Present Future has been creating free public concerts in the Waterloo Arts and Entertainment district for the past 4 years and we are back at again in 2021\, as we all emerge from the COVID shutdown of the past 14 months. The impacts of COVID-19 have been dire for working musicians and the music industry as a whole. Last year we had to pivot and do virtual concerts\, but were able to pay our scheduled musicians and actually help expand audiences because of the added online reach. This year we hope to do both live and live streaming. \nThis month’s event will feature Nancy Redd-Shelton and the 9th Street Tuna Band. \nWatch the Livestream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Wck78kjNi4 \nNancy Redd-Shelton: The Sounds of Jazz featuring Nancy  Redd on Flute and Vocals originated in 2004. The Sounds of Jazz is a mix of Jazz and Pop Standards. The Sounds of Jazz continues to celebrate the authenticity and origins of  “REAL JAZZ” with a hint of smooth jazz and pop standards. \nMary Martin and the 9th Street Tuna Band: The band has been a mainstay on the Cleveland music scene\, for the last 40 years.  Their style\, runs the range from blues to jazz\, original to covers.  And always\, always\, a delight to hear…. \nThe Waterloo Makes Music series will take place the first Friday of the month June-September as part of the monthly Walk All Over Waterloo art walk. Your support allows us to again pay musicians and the production team needed to mount our Waterloo Makes Music series.

SUMMARY:Celebration of Cleveland Rock History\, with Deanna Adams and Ray Carr
DESCRIPTION:About the Book\, Cleveland’s Rock and Roll Venues \nCleveland has always been a music town. And thanks to Cleveland deejay\, Alan Freed\, who booked the first venue for rock enthusiasts\, music fans have never lacked for places to go see their favorite acts perform in person. This book honors the astute owners and their venues— from yesterday to today—that present fans with the music they crave. The early clubs helped usher in Cleveland as the designated Rock and Roll Capital of the World. Today’s venues continue the tradition\, thus ensuring that music lovers of all ages\, and attitudes\, get to enjoy their rock and roll on the North Coast\, with all its variety and talent. Because of them\, musical memories keep on being made. \nAbout the Event \nDeanna and Ray will conduct live interviews with many who helped make Cleveland THE Rock and Roll Capital of the World. Hear the music of many decades\, see photographs from Deanna’s new book\, and hear lots – and lots – of Behind-the-Scene Stories! \nSome of those who will be on hand to tell their stories are Janet Macoska (whose many photos are included in the book)\, David Spero\, Billy Bass\, Jim Bonfanti\, Jim Quinn\, George Sipl\, Alan Greene\, Tommy Rich\, Butch Armstrong\, Steve Jochum\, and Jennifer Lee \n  \nDoors Open: 12:30. SUMMARY:Waterloo Makes Music w/Moko Bovo & The Covemen
\nWatch the Livestream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ru1YulEJPzA \nThis month’s event will feature Moko Bovo and The Covemen. \nMoKo Bovo: MoKo BoVo was founded to improvise and experiment in 1989.  We want to reach people\, draw them in\, and take them new places.  Insert spoken word and “out” sections in the middle of a traditional blues.  We play covers that people don’t recognize.  Get deep into tradition and experiment in that fertile place.  Dan Bode\, Rick Kodramaz\, and Al Moses have been a constant over the years; for this special Tower Series showwe have Pete Dell on drums\, who played with us in the 90s.  Let’s play. \nCovemen: Birthed from a Cove in North Collinwood and molded by the power of our Old Great Lake\, the Covemen create and perform original garage rock and roll for the sole purpose of having fun. \nThe Waterloo Makes Music series will take place the first Friday of the month June-September as part of the monthly Walk All Over Waterloo art walk. Your support allows us to again pay musicians and the production team needed to mount our Waterloo Makes Music series.

SUMMARY:Rock Hall Live: Bully w/Smut
DESCRIPTION:FRIDAY NIGHT JAMS\nMusic lovers unite. We are so stoked to offer a killer Friday night line-up this summer on our Rock Hall Live Stage. Tickets range from $20-$40. Let’s party.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBully\nIn rock – as in life – change is unavoidable\, often painful\, but ultimately necessary\, and Alicia Bognanno and her band Bully have dealt with a lot of it since their debut record Feels Like hit in 2015. Now with a new label and another couple years worth of life experience\, the 12 new songs on Losing feel like perfect anthems for a generation still learning to harness the power of resistance. With a vocal style that is as pretty as it is powerful\, and emotionally resonant lyrics\, Alicia channels the loss of innocence and reveals a raw honesty in songs that are distinctly hers. \n  \nSmut\nUniting crunchy guitars with swirling synths\, Smut embrace a liminality and experimentation that pushes the boundaries of pop music. The Cincinnati formed\, Chicago-based four-piece blend melody and moodiness to yield to a droney and percussive pop. As of late their influences stem from shoegaze\, 90s hip hop\, and trip-hop. Bell Cenower’s biting bass lines creep below the surface as Andrew Min’s & Sam Ruschman’s distorted guitar melodies lift the band to explosive heights. Hovering over her bandmate’s wall of sound\, Tay Roebuck’s caustically sung\, meditations on grief\, guilt\, and growing into oneself make us nostalgic for shoegaze bands past.

SUMMARY:Live and Local: New Soft Shoe
DESCRIPTION:Come get your much needed show fix with the best local talent this bitchin’ city has to offer at the Rock Hall on our very own PNC Stage. \nNew Soft Shoe\nThe New Soft Shoe is a Cleveland based band that covers the catalog of Cosmic American Music’s Gram Parsons. Since the founding of the band 11 years ago\, they have a consistent monthly 2nd Thursday show at Forest City Brewery\, played the Rock Hall and other venues\, multiple times at the Gram Parsons Pull in Waycross\, GA\, Gram’s childhood home\, and put their own twist on many of the classic Gram\, Flying Burrito Brothers\, Byrds\, and International Submarine Band songs. The band digs deep into the catalog with the only rule that Gram had to have played the song at least once for it to be performed by the band.
