Now with a new label and another couple years worth of life experience\, the 12 new songs on Losing feel like perfect anthems for a generation still learning to harness the power of resistance. With a vocal style that is as pretty as it is powerful\, and emotionally resonant lyrics\, Alicia channels the loss of innocence and reveals a raw honesty in songs that are distinctly hers. \n  \nSmut\nUniting crunchy guitars with swirling synths\, Smut embrace a liminality and experimentation that pushes the boundaries of pop music. The Cincinnati formed\, Chicago-based four-piece blend melody and moodiness to yield to a droney and percussive pop. As of late their influences stem from shoegaze\, 90s hip hop\, and trip-hop. Bell Cenower’s biting bass lines creep below the surface as Andrew Min’s & Sam Ruschman’s distorted guitar melodies lift the band to explosive heights. Hovering over her bandmate’s wall of sound\, Tay Roebuck’s caustically sung\, meditations on grief\, guilt\, and growing into oneself make us nostalgic for shoegaze bands past.

Since the founding of the band 11 years ago\, they have a consistent monthly 2nd Thursday show at Forest City Brewery\, played the Rock Hall and other venues\, multiple times at the Gram Parsons Pull in Waycross\, GA\, Gram’s childhood home\, and put their own twist on many of the classic Gram\, Flying Burrito Brothers\, Byrds\, and International Submarine Band songs. The band digs deep into the catalog with the only rule that Gram had to have played the song at least once for it to be performed by the band.

Their debut s/t album will be released in October. \n  \nJaite\nFormed in Lakewood\, Ohio during 2018\, Jaite is a rust belt infused post-punk project by founding members Michael Marefka (vocals\, synthesizer\, guitar) and Stephen Ovak (guitar\, bass\, synthesizer\, drums). Drawing on a diverse array of musical influences\, their most recent release\, Lowlands\, combines blissful electronic arpeggios with hard driving bass and bright guitar.

The 5 bandmates bring a common love for 90s and many other rock styles into their writing- resulting in high-energy and passionate music with plenty of slightly sarcastic themes. They plan to release their second EP this year. \n  \nPublic Squares\n  \nAesthetically falling somewhere between Devo and The Misfits with a sound that’s been described as “HEAVY NEW-WAVE\,” Public Squares meet pounding rhythm section with big\, bright guitar and melodic vocals. They’ve supported such legendary acts as Descendents\, The Dickies\, and Adolescents\, and their live sets are wrapped in visuals and theatrics that harken back to prime Queen or Bowie\, only with a firm DIY/Punk ethos and execution. Their debut record “NWR&P” was pressed on square-shaped vinyl and selected as an official Record Store Day release in 2018. They followed with an incredibly ambitious concept album in late 2019 titled “From Up There” which only saw a handful of support shows before Earth was attacked by a dangerous virus. The three inter-dimensional beings have been eager to return to their human vessels and continue the fight to keep rock and roll alive … because if it dies … so do you.

After releasing their acclaimed 2019 debut Quick Draw\, the band charted Top 50 on Americana radio and in 2020\, were nominated for an Ameripolitan Music Award for “Best Honky-Tonk Group.” They have shared the stage with luminaries Marty Stuart\, Jim Lauderdale\, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band\, Radney Foster\, Sheryl Crow\, and many more. Produced by Grammy-nominee and BR549 founder Chuck Mead\, their new album Bullseye ranges from catchy pedal steel-filled numbers  (“Everything I Know”) to two-step worthy tunes (“Here Come The Blues”) to never before recorded fan live favorites (“Rattlesnake Whiskey” and “Saturday Night Town”). Set for release on April 3oth\, 2021\, Bullseye has been praised by a range of outlets including Rolling Stone Country\, American Songwriter\, Wide Open Country\, The Boot\, and The Bluegrass Situation\, amongst others; the album recently debuted Top 30 on Americana radio charts. \n  \nMarc Lee Shannon\n  \nAkron based Veteran studio and touring guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Marc Lee Shannon moved to Hollywood\, CA at the ripe age of 19\, and became a successful session and live performer with many top country\, rock\, and soul artists. Once back in Ohio\, he became a member of Michael Stanley’s band\, the Resonators\, performing with him regularly since 1995. In 2018\, Shannon released “Walk This Road”\, a solo album produced by The Shootouts Ryan Humbert\, and featuring members of other popular Northeast Ohio acts Welshly Arms\, The Vindys\, The Speedbumps\, WSKU’s “Shuffle” rated this record as one of the top ten local releases in 2018 and the following year it was also one of the most played on 91.3 the Summit and OWOW radio.
