SUMMARY:FLOCO TORRES & FREE BLACK! WITH MOSSOM
DESCRIPTION:Doors: 8:00 PM / Show: 9:00 PM \nFloco (pronounced Flock-o) Torres is a Hip-Hop musician 23 projects deep into his career. He has envisioned and revisioned his creative expression countless times and with this adaptive style he has gained a steady following for his hip-hop-meets-alternative rock style. A New Jersey native\, but current resident of Akron\, OH\, created the Hip-Hop duo Free Black! in 2018 with producer/drummer HR3. Citing influences such as Kid Cudi\, Tame Impala\, and St. Vincent\, Floco continues to redefine hip-hop with his own personal style through his flows\, production & graphic design. \nMOSSOM will open the show. MOSSOM is a high energy indie rock duo made in Cleveland\, Ohio. The fearless drum and bass two-piece broke onto the scene in 2016 with the release of their fiercely unique debut EP\, produced by multi-platinum artist and producer\, Michael Seifert.

SUMMARY:Bside Patio Concert Series: The Prom Queens
DESCRIPTION:Doors: 7:00 PM / Show: 8:00 PM \n$10 \n21+ \nCleveland-based glam folk-pop trio The Prom Queens deliver a dreamy and reverberant range of musical styles and sentiments\, driven by precise and powerful two-part harmony atop confessional lyrics. In the canon of modern-day bands like Lucius or First Aid Kit\, The Prom Queens bring catchy melodies\, story-like lyrics\, and the personality of two best friends navigating womanhood to their music. From the delicate and yearning to the volatile and vulnerable\, each of their songs is highly characteristic in sound\, yet fit into a cohesive narrative of longing\, loss\, and ever- shifting ground. The classical training of vocalist Ayana Cheston\, the narrative vision of vocalist Hannah Rae Leach\, and the versatility and musical agility of multi-instrumentalist Josh Perelman-Hall create a true menagerie of influences\, approaches\, and angles that will delight you in their ultimate sonic singularity.

SUMMARY:Show & A Snack: HEY MAVIS WITH HANNAH STAK + GERACI’S RESTAURANT
DESCRIPTION:Doors: 7:00 PM / Show: 7:30 PM \nFor eleven years\, Northcoast Americana band Hey Mavis has been weaving a musical tapestry of heartfelt vocals\, honest songwriting\, blazing instrumental solos\, and an undeniable onstage musical chemistry. Banjoist/songwriter Laurie Michelle Caner and violinist/fiddler Eddie Caner formed Hey Mavis while serving as artists-in-residence in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Producer Don Dixon (REM/Smithereens/Red Clay Ramblers) “discovered” the group on a Michael Stanley Christmas compilation CD and went on to produce their first two albums\, both of which hit the top 10 on the national Folk DJ-L radio charts and amassed favorable reviews across the globe. Hey Mavis has appeared on NPR’s Mountain Stage\, NPR’s Whad’ya Know?\, IdeaStream’s Applause\, PBS’s Songs from the Center\, and was hand-picked by Melissa Etheridge to be one of the headliners for her 2018 music cruise. The group has performed standing-room-only shows at the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival as well as fourteen consecutive sell-out concerts in their hometown of Akron Ohio. \nhttps://www.heymavis.com/ \nCleveland singer-songwriter Hannah Stak has gone from a broke college student to a big player in the city’s music scene\, hosting open local music events and creating her own mix of lighthearted songs. \nhttps://www.facebook.com/hannahstak/ \nTickets sold by table only in groups of 2- 6 people for maximum occupancy and safety. \nAll patrons must wear masks upon entry and throughout the club\, unless actively eating or drinking. Once you are seated at your table\, you may kick back and relax\, but moving around the club\, in any capacity\, will require your mask – and yes\, that means over your nose and mouth. \nThe Grog Shop is committed to keeping a fun\, but SAFE environment for our customers and staff!

SUMMARY:Waterloo Makes Music w/Soul City Cleveland
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Eddie Baccus\, Sr. w/Cecil Rucker\, Sr and Shirley Cook • Eugene Ross • Khairiya Reid \nJoin us in-person or online via livestream for this FREE event: \n\nReserve your FREE ticket or table by calling (216) 383-1124 or visit www.BeachlandBallroom.com.\nWant to join online? Watch Live on June 4th.\n\nCleveland Rocks: Past Present Future has been creating free public concerts in the Waterloo Arts and Entertainment district for the past 4 years and we are back at again in 2021\, as we all emerge from the COVID shutdown of the past 14 months. The impacts of COVID-19 have been dire for working musicians and the music industry as a whole. Last year we had to pivot and do virtual concerts\, but were able to pay our scheduled musicians and actually help expand audiences because of the added online reach. This year we hope to do both live and live streaming. But we need your help. \nThe Waterloo Makes Music series will take place the first Friday of the month June-September as part of the monthly Walk All Over Waterloo art walk. Your support allows us to again pay musicians and the production team needed to mount our Waterloo Makes Music series. \nDonate Now: https://ioby.org/project/waterloo-makes-music-soul-city-cleveland \nThrough a very special partnership\, we’re kicking off  the summer concert series on Waterloo as a celebration of Cleveland’s amazing musical legacy. Soul City Cleveland\, the National Rites of Passage Institute and the Youth Resiliency Institute\, are helping us celebrate the artistry\, self-determination\, and wisdom of elder Black musicians during a special concert taking place on June 4\, at the Beachland Ballroom\, in celebration of African American Music Appreciation Month. East Cleveland-native Fanon Hill is already creating the film Soul City Cleveland as a love letter to Black music\, Ohio\, and the unheralded elder musicians who most embody its spirit of self-determination. \nFrom studio sessions with Jimi Hendrix\, to launching world-renowned independent record labels\, the stories that Soul City Cleveland has uncovered tell the story of Black music in one of America’s most important musical cities\, taking viewers on a music-filled journey from Cleveland to Japan\, the U.K and beyond. In addition to creating this documentary\, Soul City Cleveland and Cleveland Rocks PPF are planning to host a variety of activities and events throughout the year that help to reduce the social isolation and invisibility of elder Black artists while actively preserving\, promoting\, and celebrating their rich contributions to music culture in Cleveland. \nOur June concert event will be a celebration of that mission\, and will also kick off the live music season in the Waterloo Arts District with a roster of some of our greatest black musicians paired with an exhibit of artwork and photography reflecting this remarkable music culture. Our show will feature Cleveland jazz great\, Eddie Baccus\, Sr. Joining him will be an All-Star Soul City Cleveland lineup including Cecil Rucker\, Sr.\, on vibraphone and Shirley Cook as the featured vocalist. Also on the bill is Eugene Ross\, one of Cleveland’s most versatile entertainers. Ross is an accomplished singer\, guitarist\, songwriter and total performer who has worked with legendary Motown Stars and opened up for Liza Minnelli\, Scott Hamilton\, Kenny Loggins\, and the Beach Boys. Ross has performed at the White House\, Martha’s Vineyard\, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and beyond. \nThe event will include a photo exhibition anchored by the photography of 20-year-old Soul City Cleveland Stories photographer\, Khairiya Reid. Reid has been documenting Soul City Cleveland film focal points and locations significant to Greater Cleveland’s African American music heritage as part of Soul City Cleveland Stories. \nA partnership between Cleveland Rocks: Past\, Present and Future\, the National Rites of Passage Institute and the Youth Resiliency Institute\, Soul City Cleveland Stories is a culturally responsive community arts pilot project designed to connect youth and young adults residing in under-resourced communities to elder Black artists through generative immersion. By supporting this concert\, you will not only be getting the opportunity to attend a one-of-a-kind celebration of African American musicianship in Cleveland – you will also be helping to preserve and share this legacy for generations to come! \nDonate Now: https://ioby.org/project/waterloo-makes-music-soul-city-cleveland

SUMMARY:STILL PERFORMANCE Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:STILL PERFORMANCE is an exhibition of more than 80 live concert photographs by 21 Northeast Ohio photographers. Michael Weil\, owner of Foothill Galleries in Cleveland Heights\, conceived of the exhibition as an opportunity to celebrate and raise money for local photographers and live music venues that have seen their revenue streams halted by the pandemic. With the enthusiasm of the Grog Shop’s Kathy Blackman\, we expanded the project from a single gallery show into a Cleveland-wide celebration of 6 decades of stunning images made by talented professionals and amateurs alike—all devout fans of live music. Photographs depict some of the most celebrated musical acts of our time (including Chuck Berry\, Dolly Parton\, Yo-Yo Ma\,  Devo\, Chrissie Hynde\, The Who\, Iggy Pop\, The Rolling Stones\, and Bruce Springsteen) as well as many of Cleveland’s favorite performers at our favorite local stages—past and present.  We feel honored to have a special selection of images of Michael Stanley and MSB included in the exhibition. \nA jury consisting of Fran Belkin\, Kathy Blackman\, Amber Ford\, Michael Loderstedt and Michael Weil chose the final group of images from more than 240 submissions. \nA selection of Still Performance images will go on view beginning June 3\, 4-8pm at Foothill Galleries as well as at the B-Side Lounge below the Grog Shop.  On June 4\, Photocentric Gallery in Collinwood will unveil another selection of the Still Performance images. Later in June\, Blue Sky Brews in Little Italy will show a selection of the images and additional work will go on view at music venues around town including Mahall’s\, The Beachland Ballroom\, the Music Box\, and the Happy Dog. \nAll the images are for sale and proceeds go to the photographers and the non-profit Cleveland Rocks PPF organization that supports local musicians and stages. \nParticipating photographers are: Rustin McCann\, Karen Novak\, Joe Kleon\, Cyndee Burden\, Tom Ziska\, Ken Blaze\, Robert Townsend\, Randy Norfus\, G.M. Donley\, Brian Lumley\, Robert Muller\, Anastasia Pantsios\, Herb Ascherman\, Michael Weil\, Jimmy Davis\, Michael Loderstedt\, Amy Pappas\, Roger Mastroianni\, Jarrod Berger\, Bridget Caswell\, Janet Macoska. \nFor more information\, please contact\nMichael Weil – michael@foothillgalleries.com
